Description
Chac Mool is a repica that I found in the Mayak NightClub in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico . Photo by: www.ivetebassophotography.com.
One of the most peculiar of Mexican archeology sculpture is certainly known by the name of Chac Mool, found mainly in areas of Chichen Itza and Tula.
It is, in most cases, a human figure reclining back, with his legs and head turned, in whose belly lies a circular or square container. The Maya name by which he is known by Auguste Le Plongeon traveler, who in his excavations at Chich in It found one of these sculptures and moved to Merida in late 1874. Three years later he was assigned the figure was sent to the city of Mexico, triggering a strong protest from its discoverer.
